Park Allotments - Plotholders web site
History of http://www.coleparkallotments.org.uk
website:
In May 2006, I took over plot 103, having noticed a sign
on the gate at Northcote end, about an allotment society
dated 2004, I tried to join. In my efforts I also joined
the Isleworth and District Horticultural society by mistake,
however it has proved invaluable in finding resources and
advice for allotment gardening.

No Allotment society existed anymore, after contacting several
other plotholders online from other allotment sites it became
apparent that their well run allotment associations were
providing
an excellent pool of resources and helpful gardening advice.
I decided to set up Cole
Park Allotments website to aid
the current plotholders in forming an association and enabling
an online pool of information. I spoke
to several fellow plotholders, all thought it was
a good
idea but some wanted nothing to do with it until it was up
and running as the last one hadn't thrilled them. Others
however, decided to help set up Cole Park Allotments Association
(CPAA)
Some plotholders wanted to have full scale self-managed
allotments', whilst others wanted less hassle, so resources
were put on the site explaining the vagaries of self management,
running in conjunction with current landlords, allotment
grants and general
association
rules and information. That was in Aug 2006. All meetings
and minutes can be found here and
here
A great thank you goes to the pioneers who set up the association.
Since then we have had two great years of Cole Park Allotments
Association.
The association has tapped a ground breaking fundraising
opportunity in Rugby parking.
This
website has a section on it for CPAA and can be self maintained.
The website still remains a resource for all
plotholders and has a blog that any website visitor can use.
The site is self funding and to date has received over 30,000
hits including 3000 individual visitors, many of these from
the local area.
