Chickens at Park Road Allotments near Syon House

Chickens at Park Road Allotments near Syon House?

Isn't it a strange thing, as soon as you have an allotment you cant help wanting to view other allotments from trains, the tube or in your car.

Therefore, as we passed Syon Park the other day I noticed Park Road Allotments.

Imagine my surprise when, having a quick butchers, I saw several chickens looking remarkably smug and contented.

I decide to enquire further with the plotholder. Several visits later I still couldn't find the said plotholder. The Chickens throughout were growing more healthy and becoming more smug.

On the last visit I came across "Charlie" aged 77 who has had a plot there for 40 years. Wow, I thought. He explained a few things. And explained the Chickens. His plot had the best tasting autumn raspberries i've ever eaten. He gave some good advice for my raspberries too.

The Chickens had been doing well for several years. More than 1 plot there, keeps them successfully.

However they have the most awful problem, not from foxes, but from local vandals, Charlie likes to call them "Yobbos" They actually destroyed one plotholders brand new coup, (as well as untold damage across the site) allowing said Reynard to have his way with any remaining chickens. These Yobs, I'll call them, throw stones in at the greenhouses. Often stand around in large gangs around the entrance gates and threaten all who approach. Sometimes break in and maraud around their plots, destroying all in their wake.

Reynards though, thats another issue. Although someone mentioned they dont like pigs??
